Texas Cottage Garden Flower Bed Tips | Growing a Colorful Summer Garden

Little by little, the garden is coming to life. 🌸

Right now, it may still look a little sparse, but that’s the thing about cottage-style flower beds... they grow into their beauty. A few weeks from now, these zinnias and blooms will start filling in, stretching upward, and turning this little patch into a colorful wildflower-inspired space.

Gardening has a way of teaching patience. You plant tiny things into plain dirt and trust that growth is happening even when it doesn’t look impressive yet.

A few things I’m working on in this bed:

🌿 Deadheading faded blooms for more flowers

🌿 Adding plants in clusters instead of singles

🌿 Layering heights for that full cottage garden look

🌿 Deep watering and thick mulch for this Texas heat

🌿 Defining the edges to make it feel polished.

Honestly, I’m just enjoying the process. Dirt on my hands, flowers blooming, and a quiet evening outside sounds pretty good these days. 💛
