Bible Lesson: Reflecting on "Praise Him! Praise Him!"

Praise Him Praise Him

Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!

Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!

Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory;

Strength and honor give to His holy name!

Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,

In His arms, He carries them all day long.

Praise Him! Praise Him! tell of His excellent greatness;

Praise Him! Praise Him! ever in joyful song.

As I listen to the hymn "Praise Him! Praise Him!" the words of the first verse deeply resonate within me. This beautiful song captures why we should praise Jesus and the magnificence of His love and care for us.

The verse begins with a call to "Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!" This immediately reminds me of the profound sacrifice Jesus made for us. As our Redeemer, He paid the ultimate price for our sins, offering us salvation and eternal life. Reflecting on this fills my heart with gratitude and a profound sense of awe.

When the hymn urges, "Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!" I am reminded that our praise is not just a personal act but a universal one. We are called to proclaim His love to the entire world. This resonates with Psalm 66:1-2, which says, "Shout for joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious." Our praise should be a testimony to others, spreading the good news of Jesus’s love and grace.

The line "Hail Him! Hail Him! highest archangels in glory" brings to mind the heavenly hosts who continually worship Jesus. It reminds me of Revelation 5:11-12, where thousands upon thousands of angels encircle the throne, singing, "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" This powerful image of heavenly worship inspires me to join in their eternal song of praise.

The verse also highlights Jesus as our shepherd, saying, "Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children, in His arms He carries them all day long." This beautiful imagery provides immense comfort. Jesus, our Good Shepherd, guides and protects us, much like a shepherd tends to his sheep. In John 10:14-15, Jesus says, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep." Knowing that Jesus is always there to care for and guide us brings peace to my soul.

Finally, the hymn calls us to "tell of His excellent greatness; ever in joyful song." This is a reminder that our praise should be continuous and joyful. It encourages me to reflect on God's greatness daily and to express my gratitude through joyful praise. Psalm 34:1 encapsulates this sentiment: "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips."

As I meditate on "Praise Him! Praise Him!" I am moved to celebrate Jesus' incredible love, protection, and greatness. This hymn lifts my spirit and inspires me to share His love and greatness with others. May we all be encouraged to praise Him joyfully and proclaim His wonderful love to the world.
